That’s right! A picture is worth 1,000 words. Maybe more, considering the social media image driven day we live in. Some may not think this applies in your business pursuits, but lets face it, seems everyone is an entrepreneur these days. Your photograph is the perfect opportunity to portray your brand to potential clients who are no longer just interested in what you do, but who you are. Your business headshot has never been as big a representation of your own brand as it is now.
Isn’t it amazing that people will invest hundreds to thousands of dollars on the building and branding of their business, but somehow neglect a very important component; self-image branding. It’s important to have a consistent representation of what your company represents across the board. As superficial as some may think it, there’s no denying that your personal image, even if it’s only one photograph, needs to reflect exactly what you’re aiming to attract in your clients.
I recently had new business cards printed. For some reason, when the final product was finished, the composition of the images on the cards were distorted and I wasn’t satisfied with the final product. Now, this may not be a big deal to some, but I’d dare say, as a professional photographer, that since quality images is what I sell, the images on the card which represent my work, need to be the best quality they can be. Especially if I plan on attracting certain clientele. I include the story to say this, we can’t complain that we’re not attracting a certain type of client, if the attributes we seek in our customers, are not represented anywhere in our professional self image; the Headshot. And although I’m a big fan of the image quality smart phones deliver these days, this still does not take the place of a professional using professional equipment. The right photographer can help advise you on your wardrobe, location/environment, and the poses that best convey the vibe you're aiming to represent.
So stop cutting yourself short concerning self branding. You don’t have to go to the most expensive photographer. Just invest in quality professional headshots that will help you get and stay ahead of your competition in our super competitive job market.
